Tanpopo Sushi

Extraordinary friendly service and delicious food. There are few tables to sit down and you can get takeaway. We had some salmon sushi and Beef Udon and both were very fresh and nice. I would definitely recommend!

Used to come here ages ago growing up, so had to swing by again for a bit of nostalgia. Tanpopo is a small, low-key sushi spot in South Yarra doing rolls that are on the thinner/smaller side (3 for $10), but still fresh and tasty. The tuna avocado roll was easily my favourite — simple, clean flavours. The other rolls were decent too, and the rice had that nice chew, cooked just right. The owner offered up ginger and wasabi, which was a nice touch. Nothing flashy here, just straightforward sushi done well, with that old-school vibe that hasn’t really changed over the years.

Exceptional. I was blown away by the price and service. $10 for three hand rolls. I was asked if I wanted to dine in and if I wanted the rolls cut up. I was then presented with a very thoughtfully curated plate of sushi and some great customer service. Will be back!

It is incredibly surprising to discover that such a small shop can offer such high-quality Japanese cuisine. The chef undeniably embodies the Japanese craftsman spirit, and I can feel their professional skill and passion in creating this food. Despite the shop's small size, it is clean, tidy, and conveniently located in a prime spot. I highly recommend trying their bento and soup, as they are delicious. I have tried numerous Japanese restaurants in and around Melbourne. While I can't claim it's the absolute best I've ever had, it is undoubtedly a fantastic option that offers authentic Japanese food at an affordable price. ごちそうさまでした
